Cooking with Kate

Here is what it is like to try to get anything done in the kitchen with Kate.

Me: Looking up recipe in cookbook.
Kate: Opens drawer, pulls out baking pan. Decides baking pan makes suitable vessel for scooting across kitchen floor.
Realizes that she can't actually move in the baking pan, so maybe she can stand up and kind of surf in it:

Me: Opens up fridge to get something out.
Kate: Hears fridge door open with her supersonic hearing from across the house and runs into the kitchen at full speed.
Proceeds to sit down on the inside of the fridge:

Me: Tries to save energy and money by closing fridge door.
Kate: Shrieks and acts as if I am sticking pins under her nails.
Me: Decides to leave her in fridge for a few moments while I do the dishes.
Kate: Checks out condiments, opens drawers and tries to eat an onion. Raw.

Me: Go to put load of laundry into dryer from washing machine.
Kate: Takes the opportunity to quality check each kibble in dexter's bowl:

Unfortunately I don't have any photos of her helping me to do the dishes. She has discovered how to open the dishwasher and climb up on the door to unload the top rack. Such fun!

We may have a problem

Kate is obsessed with shoes. If she sees anyone in our house barefoot, she thoughtfully runs over to our closet and selects a pair of shoes for them, lying them at the offending person's feet. Even though she is thanked copiously, grunting and fussing ensues if said shoes are not placed on feet.

The past couple of days she has seemingly taken issue with the shoes I have selected for myself. Even while I have (matching) shoes on, she will thoughtfully look me up and down and then scurry into the closet to select a much more appropriate pair of silver flip flops to go with my black suit.

I think the favorite part of her day is when we are getting her dressed and she spies the shoes intended to go on her feet. She sits down immediately and ever so helpfully sticks her foot out, like Cinderella waiting for her glass slipper. After the shoes are securely strapped to her feet, she giggles and all is right in her world.

Hi

Kate decided that she wanted to join the digital age and start her own blog.
Check here frequently to read about what she is up to and the mischief she is causing.
